The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant word of God. Given that truth, we believe it is our duty to carefully study what it says and apply it as the supreme and final authority on all matters of faith and life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

God

We believe that there is one God eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – equal in nature but differing in roles and functions. Acts 5:3-4, Matthew 3:16-17 and John 14:9-10
We believe God is the creator of man and all things. Genesis 1:1, Acts 17:24-28
We believe God the Holy Spirit dwells within every Christian. John 16:5-15

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is God; That He was born on earth as man; That He lived a sinless life; That He died on the cross for our sins; That He rose from the dead; And that He lives today ready and able to forgive those who trust in Him. John 3:16, Matthew 1:18, John 20:24-31

Sin

We believe that man was originally created by God and in his own image, but that Adam sinned, marring that creation and separating us from God. We believe that man today is born with a sinful nature and is destined to be eternally lost without salvation through Christ. Romans 5:12

Salvation

We believe that the gift of salvation is available to all solely by the grace of God through faith placed in Jesus Christ because He paid the complete penalty for the sins of every human being by His death on the cross. Ephesians 2:8-9, Colossians 2:13-14

Any person who desires to be saved by the grace of God is called to confess the reality of their sin, express a commitment to turn away from their sin, and be baptized by immersion, all in the name of Jesus Christ. In response, the bible promises the forgiveness of sin, the gift of the holy spirit, and the promise of eternal life. Acts 2:38

Baptism

Baptism is a command that was given by Jesus to his disciples and is part of the journey to be more like Jesus. Matthew 28:18-20, Matthew 3:13-17

Works

Christians are inspired to good works as an outgrowth of God’s saving grace. Because we are children of God and followers of Jesus, we strive to serve others and to witness to the unchurched in hope of bringing them into a saving relationship with Christ. 2 Corinthians 9:8, James 2:26, Matthew 5:13-16

Our Values

✔︎ We Stand with Each other for the Mission

Jesus prayed for Unity (John 17:20-23) right before He went to the cross.  It is the way He said the world will know who we are.  We believe a unified body of people following Jesus is one of the most beautiful and powerful things on this earth.  For us, our unity comes by gathering behind Jesus in His mission – the way we say it around here is “Advancing the Kingdom by Living for God and Loving people.”  If we are ALL in for Jesus’ mission, it’s difficult to be divided.

This means we lay down our personal agendas and pet projects for the greater good.  It means we seek to serve.  We seek to understand.  It means we would rather be wronged than to hurt the mission and credibility of Jesus.

✔︎ We put people above process

Churches are organizations, and in some respects operate very similar to businesses.  The difference is, businesses use people to make money, and churches use money to make people.  We understand and know, at our heart and core we are in the people business.  This means you will hear us saying things like, “We care more about you than what you can do for us.”  You will see us sometimes make decisions that care for people even when a process would demand otherwise.

We are committed to living in the tension this creates because believe me we are also committed to systems and processes.  All this value means is that when it comes down to it, we err on the side of loving people like Jesus would and going after the “one.”

✔︎ We are real people having a really good time (Non-stuffy)

We love to laugh, are full of joy, and we are transparent and real.  We don’t want anyone to feel like they have to put on airs or be something they are not, but at the same time, we are not ok staying where we are.  We want to grow and become more like Jesus in every way.

We love God and think you should have a great time doing that.

We think boring someone with the gospel should be a sin if it’s not already.

✔︎ We are Shockingly Generous

This really has nothing to do with us and everything to do with who we follow.  Jesus was shockingly generous in the way He gave Himself for us – stepping out of eternity to rescue us from sin.  We just want to pass it on.  This means we love on our neighbors well (we’re the ones giving out the big candy bars at Halloween), it means we support missions well, it means we make decisions that seem foolish by the world’s terms but make total sense by the standards of the Kingdom.

✔︎ We are a Church of Second Chances (we lead with Grace)

We kind of think everyone has been through the wringer and needs a second chance.  That’s what God has done for us, and it’s what we do for others.  We have regularly been known to give people another shot, trying our best to extend the grace we’ve been extended.

God’s not done with you, and neither are we!

Our Leadership is driven by our values.  The easiest way to think about our values is to understand that these are the filters we run decisions and challenges through in order to know how we will address and lead.  Honoring God and being biblically sound are starting point for our church, but the following values are things that we believe set us apart in the way we lead and handle the people God has put in our care.
