Leader Hints are designed to help guide a leader to some information that we want to “tease” out of the group.  They are not there for you to directly read to the participants.  People are significantly more likely to remember things they said or came up with, so your goal is to help direct them to that answer.

FINAL NOTE:  Our goal is to get to the [APPLICATION QUESTION] to help work with people through how to apply what God is doing in their life.

    INTRO:

    • Icebreaker: If you could instantly become an expert in any skill or field, what would it be?
    • Reflect on last week’s application question: How did the mindset of wrestling with God in faith impact your week?

    REBUILD THE SERMON:

    • As a group, rebuild the story of Joseph’s life. Then read the conclusion, Genesis 50:15-21
Leader Hint: Kent walked us through Joseph’s story. For reference, the story runs from Genesis 37-50.
    • Identifying with Joseph: Can you relate to Joseph’s experience of facing constant setbacks and challenges in life? Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try; circumstances keep knocking you back down?
    • Responding to Adversity: When faced with difficulties, Joseph remained resilient and continued to persevere. How do you typically respond when life throws obstacles your way? Do you tend to become bitter and resentful, or do you try to maintain a positive outlook despite the challenges?
    • The Power of Forgiveness: Joseph’s response to his brothers, who had betrayed him and sold him into slavery, was one of forgiveness and reconciliation. How does Joseph’s ability to forgive, despite enduring immense suffering, challenge your perspective on forgiveness? Do you find it easy or difficult to forgive those who have wronged you?
    • Taking the Long View: Joseph’s life story illustrates the concept of taking the long view and trusting that God can turn all things for good. How can we adopt a similar perspective in our own lives when facing challenges and setbacks?

    Application Question:

There are two application questions this week.  Pick the one that resonates with you the most and lay out some concrete actions for you to follow throughout the week.

    • How can you apply Joseph’s example of resilience, forgiveness, and trust in God to navigate through your current challenges?
    • How can you lean into your faith and adopt a long-term perspective, trusting that God can use even the most difficult circumstances for good?
    • Take up prayer requests and pray together.

    Prayer Request Submission

Prayer requests remain on our list for two weeks. If the need is on going, please resubmit or contact our prayer team.

Would you be interested in learning more about joining our care team and praying for the needs of those in our church and caring for them?

I would like to have someone follow up with me and personally pray for my need with me. You will receive a phone call or text from one of our team member if you select this option
