Leader Hints are designed to help guide a leader to some information that we want to “tease” out of the group. They are not there for you to directly read to the participants. People are significantly more likely to remember things they said or came up with, so your goal is to help direct them to that answer.
FINAL NOTE: Our goal is to get to the [APPLICATION QUESTION] to help work with people through how to apply what God is doing in their life.
INTRO:
-
How do you prepare for Christmas in your household? Do you have any unique or memorable traditions?
REBUILD THE SERMON:
- Kent mentioned different times people start decorating for Christmas. When do you typically start your Christmas preparations, and why?
- Work together to rebuild the sermon as a group.
- Read Luke 1:41-44. Elizabeth’s baby leaped in her womb when Mary greeted her. What significance do you see in this event, and how does it relate to the preparation for Jesus’ arrival?
- John the Baptist is described as preparing the way for Jesus. How do you think John’s actions and message helped people get ready for Jesus’ ministry?
- Read John 3:29-30. It highlights John’s humility and understanding of his role. What can we learn from John’s attitude about playing a supportive role in God’s plan?
- The sermon suggests practical ways to “regift” the message of Jesus. Which of these suggestions resonates with you, and how might you implement it in your life this Christmas season?
- Reflecting on John’s ultimate sacrifice for his message, what are some ways we can show commitment to sharing the message of Jesus, even when it might be challenging?
Application Question:
- Choose one practical way to regift the message of Jesus this Christmas and plan to implement it.
- Take up prayer requests and pray together.
