- Icebreaker: Spring Break is next week! Does anyone have any plans?
- Last Week’s Application Question: Did anyone intentionally share stories of God’s faithfulness with others, particularly younger generations?
REBUILD THE SERMON:
- The time of Judges is at an end. How did Israel get to this point in their history?
- Why did Israel want a king?
- Reflecting on Samuel and Saul’s stories, what led to their different paths, and how might their choices relate to our own decisions?
- Why was Saul picked by the people of Israel to be king? Do you see anything similar in today’s world?
- Discuss Samuel’s reaction to the Israelites’ request for a king. What does it reveal about human nature?
- How can we recognize and respond to moments when we’re tempted to reject God’s authority and follow our desires instead?
- Reflecting on Jesus’ message of the kingdom of God, how does it offer hope in the face of human rejection of God’s rule?
- How can we actively align our lives with God’s authority and prioritize Him above all else?
Application Question:
- Considering God’s kingdom and our response to His authority, what “checks and balances” can you implement that can help align your life more closely with God’s rule?
