Leader Hints are designed to help guide a leader to some information that we want to “tease” out of the group. They are not there for you to directly read to the participants. People are significantly more likely to remember things they said or came up with, so your goal is to help direct them to that answer.
FINAL NOTE: Our goal is to get to the [APPLICATION QUESTION] to help work with people through how to apply what God is doing in their life.
INTRO:
- Welcome back! What are you looking to get out of group this semester?
REBUILD THE SERMON:
- Read Genesis 22:1-2, 6-9, 10, 11-13 and John 3:16. Split up these verses between the group.
- Have you ever experienced a situation in your life that didn’t make sense at the time? How did you handle it, and did you eventually see a bigger picture or purpose behind it?
- Have you ever experienced a situation with God that didn’t make sense at the time?
- In the story of Abraham sacrificing Isaac, Abraham follows God’s command without fully understanding. Have you ever had to trust God in a situation that seemed confusing or difficult to comprehend?
- What were the promises God made to Abraham throughout his life and how were they fulfilled through his life and the rest of the Bible?
Application Question:
- Considering the theme of trust and obedience in the story of Abraham and Isaac, discuss a specific area in your life where you need to trust God more and be obedient, even if the situation seems challenging or unclear. How can you take practical steps to demonstrate trust and obedience in that area?
- Take up prayer requests and pray together.
