February 12, 2023 – Week 2 – Woman @ the Well (Section 27 & 28)
Playing, Praying, and Growing together
Last weeks service
This Weeks ?’s
INTRO:
- Kent talked at the beginning of his sermon about not understanding what a testimony was and what witnessing was. Did you grow up with that language as a part of your life?
- Why do you think Christians have a hard time telling your story of what God has done in their life (being a witness or sharing their testimony)?
REBUILD THE SERMON:
-
What did the sermon Sunday get you thinking about?
-
What do you think is the most significant part of the story Kent talked about from John 4 (the woman at the well)
(LEADER HINT: If people don’t remember, invite them to open up and work as a group to rebuild the story.) -
Tonight’s group is going to be a little different, we are going to work as a group to learn to share our redemption stories by using some questions.
(LEADER HINT: You can have your group work through these questions individually and then come back and share, or walk through them one by one together. Also, this might be a great time to share the Gospel with anyone in your group who doesn’t have a relationship with Jesus. If you need to go that direction, do it! How cool would it be to baptize someone out of your group?): -
Think through some of the moments in your life that were significant moments where God might have been working.
-
What was it that caused you to realize your need for Jesus?
-
Were there things that kept you from coming sooner?
-
What has changed for you since knowing Jesus?
-
How do you know when to share your story?
-
Read Colossians 4:5-6 – how do these verses influence your thinking on “when”?
-
When Kent asked us in the sermon “Who do you need to tell?” Who was it that popped into your head?
Application Question:
-
[APPLICATION QUESTION]: What can we do this week to start orienting/positioning ourselves toward sharing our stories and introducing our friends to Jesus?
(LEADER HINT: It may take your group a bit of time to think through this, but that’s ok. Some suggestions of ideas, “we could commit to praying for God to open those opportunities” “we could invite them to join our group” “we could invite them to go to church with us” “we can just be more intentional about looking for chances to be ‘salt’,” etc.) -
Pray for the people you know who are far from God as a group, let people have some time to pray for their friends and then close at the end.
